Why Does Fair Go Check My Identity?
It is the step people resent most and the one that protects them most. Three reasons, none of them suspicion.

To confirm you are 18 or over, to make sure money goes back to the person who sent it, and to meet the anti-money-laundering rules that come with our licence. The check stands in front of your first withdrawal, and it is also what stops anybody else cashing out your balance.
What are the three reasons?
Each one is a rule we work under, and each one happens to protect you as well.
| Reason | What we are confirming | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Age | That the account holder is 18 or over | An account opened by anyone younger is never paid out |
| Ownership | That the person cashing out is the account holder | Withdrawals are only allowed to accounts the registered holder owns and controls |
| Money-laundering rules | That funds moving through the account are what they appear to be | The same documents a bank or a payment service would ask you for |
None of the three is about whether we trust you in particular. Every account is checked before its first payout, and nearly every document we send back is sent back because we cannot read it: a corner outside the frame, a reflection across the number, a bill from an old address.
When will we ask?
Once as a matter of course, and again only when something about the account changes.
- Before the first payout. You upload the documents in the cashier when you request it: a colour copy of a government photo ID, both sides for a driver licence or a national ID, and a proof of address no older than three months. A utility bill, a bank statement or a card statement will do.
- When a card funded the account. A copy of the card, front and back.
- When an e-wallet funded it. A screenshot of the wallet account showing who it is registered to.
- If our team asks. A picture of you holding the photo ID next to your face.
- At any point. We may ask for further documents at our discretion, and what is asked can vary with the account and the deposit method.
Every document has to be legible, valid and unexpired, with all four corners in the frame.

Why only one account each?
We accept one account per person, household and IP address. The rule exists for the same reason as the check. Claiming a welcome offer twice and walking around a self-exclusion both need a second identity, and the rule is what closes that door.
Anyone found with more than one keeps a single account, at our discretion, and the others are deactivated. Winnings made on a duplicate account are void. Two adults at one address will usually be read as duplicates, so talk to live chat before a second person in the household registers rather than after.
Ten minutes with a phone camera in daylight. The upload happens in the cashier when you request a withdrawal, so photographs taken in advance are the difference between a payout that moves and one that waits on a retake.
Also asked
Is it because you suspect me?
No. Everybody is checked before a first payout, and the check is the same whatever the amount.
Can I play before I am verified?
Yes. The check stands in front of the first withdrawal rather than the first deposit. Winnings are not processed until it is done.
What happens to the documents I send?
They are held under the privacy policy attached to your account, and Australian privacy law lets you ask what we hold and have it corrected.
My name has changed since the ID was issued.
Send the document that links the two, such as a marriage certificate, along with the ID.
Can my partner play on my account?
No. An account belongs to one person, and payouts only ever go to that person.
