How Do I Keep My Fair Go Account Safe?

Most of the protection is built in. The part that is yours takes about five minutes, once.

Updated 17 September 2026

Our secure payments guarantee, which names 128-bit SSL encryption.
Short answer

Give the account a password you use nowhere else, keep the email behind it secure, and send your documents early. On our side every transaction runs over 128-bit SSL, and withdrawals are only allowed to accounts you own and control. The rest is yours: under our terms you are responsible for what happens on your account.

What is already protecting the account?

ProtectionWhat it stops
128-bit SSL encryptionAnyone reading your details on the way between your device and us
An identity check before the first payoutA withdrawal by somebody who is not the account holder
Withdrawals only to the account holderA balance being sent to another person's card or wallet
Play in your own name onlyAnybody else using your account, or a card that is not yours funding it
Tokens in place of card numbersA card number being stored when you pay with Apple Pay or Google Pay

None of that needs switching on. It also explains the thing that feels most like friction, the documents we ask for before money leaves: that is the account refusing to take instructions from someone who might not be you.

The five minutes that are yours

  1. Give the account its own passwordLong, and used for nothing else. Accounts are usually taken with a password that leaked somewhere else entirely and was tried here afterwards.
  2. Lock the inbox behind itThe reset link goes to your email, so whoever can open that inbox can open this account. Turn on two-step sign-in with your email provider.
  3. Send your documents before you need themA verified account has its payout route tied to your name, which is the single thing a thief cannot get around.
  4. Log out on any device you shareA library, a workplace, a friend's phone. Whoever opens that browser after you is in your account.
  5. Keep a record outside the accountA note of what went in and what came out. If anything is ever disputed, your own dates settle it faster than memory does.

What will we never ask you for?

Four things, in any channel, under any pretext.

  • Your password. Support can find an account by name and date of birth. It never needs the password to do it.
  • A card PIN. No deposit, refund or verification step uses one.
  • A wallet seed phrase. A crypto payout needs your receiving address and nothing else.
  • A code sent to you by text or email. Those codes exist to prove that the person typing is you. Reading one out to somebody defeats it.

A message asking for any of these is not from us, however well it is dressed. Do not answer it. Open live chat from our own pages and say what arrived and when.

If you think someone has been in the account

Reset the password from the login screen first, then tell live chat what you saw and when. A payout still cannot leave to a method that is not in your name, but a balance can be played, so do not wait to see whether it happens again.

Also asked

Can someone else withdraw my balance?

Not to themselves. A payout goes only to a payment method registered in the account holder's name, and that match is part of verification.

Do you keep my card number?

Not when you pay with Apple Pay or Google Pay, which hand over a token in its place. Neosurf and CashtoCode involve no card at all.

Who is liable if somebody else uses my account?

Under our terms, you are: purchases and losses on the account are yours. That is the reason to give it a password of its own.

Can I change the email on the account?

Yes, through live chat, as long as there is no withdrawable balance at the time and the new address is not already registered with us.

An email asked me to confirm my password. Is it yours?

No. We do not ask for passwords, PINs, seed phrases or texted codes in any channel. Leave it unanswered and tell live chat.
