What Documents Does Fair Go Verification Need?

Two documents cover most accounts, three if you deposited by card or e-wallet. Most rejections are photography problems rather than identity problems.

Short answer

A colour government photo ID (passport, or both sides of a driver licence) and a proof of address dated within the last two to three months. Card or e-wallet deposits also need proof of that payment method.

What counts

DocumentAcceptedRejected
Photo IDPassport, or licence and national ID front and back, in colourExpired, greyscale, student or work cards
Proof of addressUtility bill, bank or card statement within 2 to 3 monthsAnything older, or without your address on it
Card proofFront and back, middle digits covered, name visibleName or last four digits hidden
E-wallet proofScreenshot showing the registered account nameA payment receipt with no account holder name

The operator says two months in its terms and three on its verification page. Aim for two and the discrepancy never affects you.

Photographing them so they pass

Five minutes of care here saves a rejection that costs a day.

  1. Flat surface, dark backgroundIt makes the document edges unambiguous, which is the first thing checked.
  2. All four corners in frameThe single most common rejection. Leave a margin around the whole document.
  3. Daylight, no flashFlash puts a white blob across the hologram on a licence, hiding what is being verified.
  4. Shoot straight downAngled shots distort characters and make numbers ambiguous.
  5. Read it back yourselfZoom into your own photo. If you cannot read the licence number, neither can anyone else.
  6. Send the original fileNot a screenshot of a photo, not a filter, not a greyscale scan.

When to do it

Verification is required before any withdrawal, not before you deposit or play. That is exactly why people leave it until a payout is pending, which is the worst moment to start.

A complete, legible set is normally reviewed within a business day. Submit on the day you register and it is done long before you need it.

It is also a one-off. Once approved you stay approved, though extra documents can be requested if you change payment method or withdraw an unusually large amount.

The six rejection reasons

  • A cut-off corner. The document must be complete in the frame.
  • Glare across the ID. Flash on a laminated licence obscures the security features.
  • An out-of-date bill. Anything much past three months is refused.
  • A name mismatch. A maiden name on the ID against a married name on the account needs a marriage certificate.
  • Greyscale. Colour is required, because colour is part of what makes a document verifiable.
  • One side of the licence. Australian driver licences need front and back.

Also asked

Can I play before verifying?

Yes. It is only required before money leaves the account, which is why so many people leave it until it is urgent.

My licence has my old address. Is that a problem?

Generally fine, provided the separate address document lines up with what the account says.

Will I need a selfie?

Sometimes. A photo of you holding the ID beside your face is requested at the operator’s discretion rather than always.

Why do they want my card?

To confirm it is yours and matches the deposit. Cover the middle digits, leave your name and the last four visible.

Where do I send them?

Either through the cashier at payout time, or ahead of that on live chat, which is the smarter route.
